Untitled III

Caught a feather in the sky,
Sent it floating on the lake.
"Blue, blue," the pigeons coo.
Decision isn't mine to make.

Light climbs down the ropes to earth,
Retains the miracle to shine.
See, beneath the mustard tree.
Solitude is a friend of mine.

Wash my hands in mountain streams
Wash the blood off lest I break.
"Blue, blue," they mourn anew.
Pray the Lord my soul to take.

  7. This is dark and beautiful. Is this person going to hang his or herself, ironically, on the mustard tree? Maybe this idea is way out of left field. It just seems like there is something sinister gong on here.
Great poem though, it really made me think.

  9. Thank you all for your compliments!

@ Shashi thank you, I'm very satisfied with that line. Sometimes I'm able to find the exact words I wanted to say, and that was one of those times.

@ Fyodor Lewis I wasn't thinking of the person of the poem committing suicide. I see how it could easily be interpreted that way, however (which I don't mind at all). The idea was of atonement and sanctification from sins. I used imagery of ropes and washing blood off the hands purely as a metaphor for all sins in general committed by the person.
